CHAPTER 13
The next afternoon Mileah woke up and looked around. At first everything was unfamiliar to her, and then she remembered she went home with Mar’Quis the night before. The night she had with Mar’Quis was everything she imagined it would be and more. He had her on cloud nine. Mar’Quis’ side of the bed was empty, but the smell of food cooking told her exactly where he was. ‘A man that can put it down in the bed and can cook. I could get used to this’. She thought. Mileah went in the bathroom to check her face. When she got in there Mar’Quis had a new toothbrush and a clean towel laid out for her. When Mileah came out of the bathroom Mar’Quis was waiting to serve her lunch in bed.
“I would say good morning, but its three o’clock in the afternoon. You almost slept the whole day away. I must have put it down last night.” Mar’Quis laughed
“Yeah, whatever I was tired. What is this?” Mileah pointed to the tray in his hands. Mar’Quis had cooked shrimp and made her a little salad. He usually never cooked for females, but he was trying a different approach. Mileah was special to him plus he felt like he needed to talk to her about something important so why not feed her first.
“Just a little something I whipped up.” He said with a smile.
“I didn’t know you cooked or even knew how to cook.” Mileah said.
“I try to cook when I have the time and I know how to cook from having to fend for myself when I was younger.” Mar’Quis stated.
One of Mar’Quis’ many talents was cooking. Sometimes Ernie didn’t have time to cook dinner when Mar’Quis was younger. It was always microwaveable foods or fast food so Mar’Quis learned at an early age.
“Look sit down and eat it’s something I wanna talk to you about.” Mar’Quis told her.
At first Mar’Quis wasn’t going to tell Mileah about Khalani and her baby, but he wanted to move forward with her. In order to do that he didn’t want there to be any secrets just in case the baby was his.
Seeing the look on his face and remembering that last night he said after they had sex there was no turning back Mileah was willing to listen to him. She was scared to get back in a relationship so soon.
“Ok go ahead…I’m listening.” She said in anticipation
Mar’Quis sat there and broke down him and Khalani’s past relationship. He didn’t leave out any details. He told Mileah about taking the test the other day and that was really why he couldn’t answer her calls. He also told her that he had strong doubts about the baby being his, but if he was that he was going to try to get full custody of him and do everything he was supposed to do as a father. Mar’Quis loved kids. He never met his real father. He didn’t even know who his father was.
